A great afternoon can be spent kayaking False Creek in Vancouver.

Head down to the Ecomarine store on Granville Island and rent a kayak for a couple of hours. If you are visiting in the summer check to see if they still have 2for1 Tuesdays.

Head up to the Science Center at the base of False Creek. As you paddle along the side of Granville Island you will pass by the floating houses - now there is a great lifestyle, after that it is marinas filled with sailboats and yachts. It is a nice easy paddle with lots to look at.

Watch for the tides as it is a lot easier paddling with the tide than against it; and for whatever reason I seem to catch myself going against the tide coming back so returning always seems to take a little longer. Once you are back at Ecomarine hit the pub or patio at Bridges or the patio at Sandbar (a personal fav).

Ecomarine also has rental locations at Jericho Beach and English Bay if you want a more open water experience.
