The "Stonehouse Pub" - a hidden treasure near the ferry...

Description
Most people either arriving at, or leaving from, the Schwartz Bary ferry terminal north of Victoria on Vancouver Island will never even know this beautiful little pub even exists. It's described as an "80-year-old British pub with much character", but that hardly does justice to the eclectic menu, excellent food, or warm hospitality. My favourite is the fish and chips - quite unlike any I've had anywhere else (no heavy batter, no grease - just tender, delicately seasoned grilled fish and hand-cut fries - delicious).

The address is 2215 Canoe Cove Road, Sidney, B.C.

If arriving on the ferry, turn left on Lands End Rd (instead of going straight through to the highway), cross over the highway, turn left again immediately on Dolphin Rd., then follow the signs. If coming up to Schwartz Bay from Victoria, exit for Lands End (it's the last exit before the ferry) then go straight through the lights at the top of the off-ramp - that's Dolphin Rd., then just follow the signs.

Agreed - great little hideaway for a quiet tete-a-tete.
