Description
Ever wanted to walk amongst 120, 000 pairs of penguins?
There are a number of different ways of seeing this last frontier.... and they are all by ship.
There are over 35 ships operating in the Antarctic region from massive 2000 person cruise ships to small 12 person sail boats. The best way is to find a smaller expedition style ship. Though forgoing some of the luxuries of a cruise ship, these smaller vessels are able to get where others can't and don't waste time shuttling hundreds of people to shore. Where they lack on amenities they make up for it with their cuisine!
The one tip from someone who has worked in the business as a guide is to make sure you go to SOUTH GEORGIA!! There are trips that do Faulkland Islands, South Georgia and the Anarctica Peninsula and undoubtudly the majority of passengers favorite place is South Georgia. This is where the largest colonies of Penguins (including King Penguins - similar to Emperor), and seals are. There epic scenery and remnants of a very interesting history - Shaletons epic small boat sail from elephant island ended here....
