Venice, best known for its canals, is a beautiful city for all types of visitors. There are numerous churches and museums for visitors. A family that tours Italy will find churches and museums in every major destination. The most famous one in Venice is Saint Mark's Basilica. The Glass Museum is another famous site for Venice visitors. It is on the island of Murano, but there are easy tours from Venice.

Naples is another well-known coastal Italian city. From Naples, one can see Mount Vesuvius and the ruins of Pompeii. Some of the artifacts from Pompeii can also be found at the Archaeological Museum in Naples. A visitor can access Mount Vesuvius by various modes of transportation and even hike to the summit. The Gulf of Naples is also convenient for visiting other popular sites such as the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri.

Pisa is best known for the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but it has many other sites to offer. Much like the rest of Italy, there are numerous sites for those interested in architecture and art. Unique art includes Syrian bronze sculptures that were captured by the Crusaders, which can be seen at the Museo del Opera del Duomo. Other notable pieces are the Roman sarcophagi at the Campo Santo Monumentale and original sketches from centuries ago at the Museo delle Sinopie. Pisa also has a popular festival called Luminara in June, where 10,000 candles are lit along the banks of the Arno River.
